Step 1

Write out the equation of a line using the slope-intercept form,

y = mx + c

m = slope = 3

c = intercept on y axis

Step 2

y = mx + c

y = 3x + c

Step 3:

Find c as the line goes through (-4,-1)

-1 = (-4)x3 - c

-1 = -12 - c

c = -12 + 1

c = -11

Step 4

substitute c and m in y = mx + c

y = 3x - 11
