OK.  Here we go:

Step #1:  Write the equation on your paper.

Step #2:  Add  3  to each side of the equation.

Step #3:  With the result of step-#2, divide each side of the equation by  2.

If your result of step-#3 is not 4.5, then go back to step-#1, and go through
all 3 steps again, trying to be more careful and focused.
